The above results will provide scientific basis not only for establishment of natural taxonomic system of Tulipa L. , but also for domestication and hybridization of this genus in China .
Observations on horticultural characters and growth and propagation of bulbs in different ecologic regions in 13 tulip ( Tulipa gesneriana ) varieties introduced from the Netherlands were made and two stable and four less stable varieties of tulip were selected . Practices of forcing into growth and lengthening growth period , cultural techniques , harvesting time of bulbs , and storage conditions of tulip were developed .
Growth regulators ( A1 , A2 ) could promote the flower buds differentiation of Tulipa gesneriana effectively . A1 was better than A2.Through treatment of A1 , the rate of flower of Tulipa gesneriana increased 40 % , the length of scape and flower diameter increased 11 cm and 3 cm respectively , the florescence was advanced for 10 d and the flower life was prolonged for 4 d compared with control .
